About the “The Teacher Appreciation Banquet” Stage Play：
On Malaysia’s 2018 election day, Lee Kok Kee returned from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur just to vote. In that moment, like many others, he believed that change was truly possible. That same night, former classmates reunited after many years and held a teachers’ appreciation gathering for their teacher, Mr. Liu.
The journey home became a passage through time, pulling him back to the campus of 1987. In those days, he and his classmates had stood side by side with their teacher, fighting for a shared belief. Yet, different choices later left deep and lasting scars in each other’s hearts.
More than thirty years passed in the blink of an eye. Life carried them to distant places. Some held firmly to their original ideals. Some quietly changed. Others chose silence.
As the evening unfolds, old reckonings rise to the surface. They begin to realize that every decision they made back then still lingers today. At this long-overdue gathering, they must face one another once more, and also face who they once were.
